Writing this from Rome. Headed back to Germany and the U.S. for a month, then back to Germany in mid-July. I think the Balkans is in order, and once the weather cools down slightly, some California / National Parks action, maybe a couple weeks in the Stans.

Haven’t updated this page in a while, probably somewhere in Eastern Europe. Ukraine? Former Yugoslavia? South Caucasus?

Weekend in Regensburg and Passau, last warm-ish weekend of the year methinks. Dresden will come at some later date.

Haven’t made up my mind yet, but I think Dresden is on the list. Gluehwein season is coming up fairly soon, and it’s one of the main cities I haven’t yet been to.

Evidently I never seem to keep up on this page, but I will be saying hey to the Land of Enchantment. Hello green chile.

Weekend in Detroit, gotta visit before it turns into America’s version of ancient Rome. It’s the last of the series of long weekends in Germany, so hello Motown.

North America, on a 10 day biz trip that will take me from Western Canada to Tennessee. Go figure. All flights are on United, and I get to connect in Chicago. Woohoo. Aside from the biz part, I might squeeze in a short jaunt to SoCal, if not, then maybe some snowboarding in the PNW.

. . . Savoie. Viva la France. Been a pretty good season in the Alps, but well, my riding days remain limited. Also trying to shake this cold that has bugged me for a week. The board is not waxed, I am not packed, and I’m out of shape, so what else is new?

. . . the Arlberg, and I am glad. Woohoo, I’ve been stuck in the flatlands the past few weekends, so it’s some to get my shred on. And it’s hard to believe that in this winter of worldwide discontent, that the economic worries have cut into my days on the hill. I hope to remedy that, but sometimes life and reality catch up with you.

. . . in the Alps, my first time in Europe this season, in fact. Normally I get out to Austria for a couple days at the beginning of December, but being overloaded in work-related stuff, I had to skip my usual snowboard-fest drink-fest in Innsbruck.
It looks like a potentially good weekend ahead, with new snow forecast and relatively chilly temperatures. At this point I haven’t had an ‘echtes’ powder day this season. Not yet, anyways.
Also, as this blog is still new, I will try to post a few ‘best of’ trip reports from previous seasons. But for now, I’m signing off, packing my snowboard bag with my fragrant boots and gear, and getting ready for an early train tomorrow morning.
